MIAMI, FL. – Jacksonville State's women's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the CUSA Tournament thanks to a 4-2 victory over Middle Tennessee on Friday.

The Gamecocks, the 3-seed in the tournament, downed the Blue Raiders, the 6-seed, by claiming the doubles point before heading to singles play.
Polina Ramenskaja and
Dariana Prato got the first win in a 6-2 triumph over Middle Tennessee's Ilaria Sposetti and Lilly-Sophi Schmidt on court No. 3.

Irene Artigas and
Martina Zarza were then defeated on court No. 1 before
Anna Syrova and
Ella Tuomela clinched the doubles point in a 6-4 win on court No. 2 over Sana Garakani and Rutuja Chaphalkar.

Ramenskaja was beaten to open singles play in a straight-set on court No. 1 to even the score at 1-1. Prato then reclaimed the lead for the Gamecocks with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court No. 2. Artigas was able to extend Jax State's lead to 3-1 on court No. 4 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Sophie Schmidt.

Chaphalkar downed Zarza in a straight-set match to make it 3-2. Tuomela clinched the victory on court No. 5 with a 7-6, 6-2 win allowing the Gamecocks to advance to Saturday. The win marked the first ever conference tournament victory as head coach for Gamecocks' coach
Michael Helms.
