HUNTSVILLE, TX. – Jacksonville State's women's tennis team claimed a 4-2 triumph over New Mexico State marking their fifth straight match victory.

The Gamecocks (10-7) earned the win over the Aggies (5-11) in a match with several tight finals at Kelly & Ina May McAdams tennis center on the campus of Sam Houston State. The Aggies took the doubles point over Jax State 2-1, but the Gamecocks rebounded in singles. The duo of
Serafima Shastova and
Irene Artigas claimed the only doubles victory for the Gamecocks.

The match win was clinched by
Anna Syrova in singles action against New Mexico State's Dora Kurdi whose match came down to the wire, including a tiebreaker in set two.
Irene Artigas clinched a straight-set win (6-2, 6-2) to compliment her performance with Shastova in doubles action.

Ella Tuomela suffered a 4-6 loss in her first set of singles, but she quickly erased doubt by winning set two 6-2 and taking set three 6-3.
Dariana Prato's singles victory was a wild one. She was able to claim a 6-3 win in set one but dropped set two 6-1. Prato wasted no time to recover in the final set with a dominating 6-0 win.

The Gamecocks' next match against Sam Houston State was scheduled for Sunday. Due to the threat of inclement weather, the match against the Bearkats was moved to Saturday at 1 P.M.
