LAFAYETTE, LA. – Jacksonville State's volleyball team lost a third consecutive match Saturday in the Ragin' Cajuns Classic closer. The Gamecocks fell to the Southwest Athletic Conference preseason favorite Florida A&M.
The Rattlers (8-5) swept the Gamecocks (7-6) en route to their win eighth win of the season. For Jax State, they are carrying seven wins into next weekend's CUSA opener. The Rattlers won the three sets 25-18, 25-18, and 25-17. Jax State had 44 digs, 26 kills, 24 assists, five service aces, and two blocks as a unit.
Brooklyn Schiffli was impressive throughout in her usual libero role as she collected 20 digs.
Ellie Garrett had a team-best 19 assists along with six digs.
Kayla Williams led the Red-and-White with eight kills, followed closely by
Caty Havekost who added seven.
Jax State will begin conference play against Western Kentucky next Friday, Sep. 27, and Saturday, Sep. 28, in Pete Mathews Coliseum. The Hilltoppers were selected as the preseason pick to repeat as CUSA Conference Champions this year. The match will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
