JACKSONVILLE — The Jax State soccer team fell 1-0 to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Sunday, October 26, at the Jax State Soccer Complex to conclude the 2025 season.
Jax State finishes the season at 6-9-3 with an 0-7-1 mark in Conference USA play. Western Kentucky finishes the regular season with a record of 9-4-3 and 6-0-2 in CUSA play.
The Hilltoppers also earn a share of the CUSA regular season crown, splitting the title with Liberty, and will be the top seed in next week's CUSA Tournament.
Not much was going for either team through the first half as the rain began to shower the area, but the Hilltoppers were able to break through in the 41st minute with a goal from Georgia Liapis.
In total, the Hilltoppers ended the first half with a 7-3 advantage in shots. Both sides were equal in fouls with three apiece, while Ella Holmberg had three saves to WKU's one.
In the second half of action, the rain continued to fall and hampered both side's attack. WKU got eight shots off but nothing in the net, while Jax State put up three more shots. In total, the Hilltoppers ended with 15 shots, eight on goal, in the contest, while Jax State ended with six, two on goal.
Holmberg finished the content with seven saves to WKU's two saves, adding four more in the second half.
Reina Herndon and Louise Featherstone lead the Gamecocks in shots with two each. Herndon also had a shot on goal, while Symone Dorsey accounted for the other shot on goal.
