HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Jax State Cross Country teams are set to compete in the Conference USA Championships on Saturday in their third year as members of CUSA. Last year, the men turned in an impressive third place finish while the women earned sixth.

Last season at the CUSA Championships, Jax State had five athletes earn CUSA All-Conference honors in Oxford on the way to a third place men's finish and sixth place women's finish. This year, the Gamecocks look to compete in their home state for the second consecutive year in the conference championship.

Gamecocks Clean Up CUSA Awards
Following a team sweep of the Upstate Invitational, Jax State freshmen Viola Jepleting and Nelbat Kiprop Kirwa have been named the Conference USA Freshmen of the Week. Jax State has now secured 10 Conference USA Weekly awards this season, including eight CUSA Freshman of the Week honors.

Last Time Out
Jax State swept the team titles at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., while also earning an individual victory from freshman Viola Jepleting. It was the third, fourth and fifth total victories this season for Jax State, joining the men's team title and women's individual championship for Mercy Jebet at the Foothills Invitational.

What's Next?
Following the Conference USA Championship at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, the Gamecocks will return to Huntsville for the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 14. It will be the third time this season Jax State has run at John Hunt Park, joining the Southern Showcase and the CUSA Championships.

Gamecocks Make Program History in USTFCCCA Rankings
Jacksonville State is ranked in both the Men's and Women's USTFCCCA South Region Rankings, being ranked 12^th on the men's side and 15^th in the women's ranking. This season is the first time the women have been ranked in a USTFCCCA Region Ranking and 12^th is the highest ranking in program history for the men.
