Jax State is coming off a 67-61 loss to Southern Miss on Thursday, Nov. 13. In the loss,
Adriana Jones led the Gamecocks with 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting and 4-for-7 shooting from three.
Mya Barnes joined Jones in double figures with 12 points on 4-for-6 shooting and 3-for-5 from three. Vitoria Carvalho led the Gamecocks with 10 rebounds, while adding seven points.
Makala Hobdy led the way with five assists.
Jones Impresses Against Southern Miss
In the loss to Southern Miss,
Adriana Jones led the Gamecocks with 26 points. Jones' 26 points against the Golden Eagles was only the third time in the last five years that a Jax State player has scored 25 or more points in a contest. Kennedy Gavin scored 27 against Kennesaw State on Jan. 19, 2023, and
Rachel Johnson scored 25 against FIU on Feb. 24, 2024.

Hobdy leads the Gamecocks so far this season playing an average of 29.4 minutes per game. Hobdy and Jones both average double-digits this year with Jones scoring 14.0 points per game and Hobdy scoring 10.0 points per game. Carvalho averages a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game. Hobdy, Maria Sanchez-Ponce, and
Mya Barnes are all averaging 6.0 rebounds per game, respectively.
Barnes Preseason Honors
Senior forward
Mya Barnes was selected to the 2025-26 Preseason All-CUSA Team. Barnes averaged 7.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks on 27.8 minutes per game last season. Barnes' 1.2 blocks per game and 35 total blocks ranked her fifth in the league in both categories last year.
Series History
Georgia holds a 2-0 all-time record against Jax State with both wins coming inside Stegman Coliseum. UGA won the first meeting 68-47 on Dec. 9, 2020. The Bulldogs pulled off a 52-44 win over the Gamecocks in the second meeting on Nov. 13, 2022.
