Men's Tennis opens 2025 with a win at Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. – Jacksonville State's men's tennis squad opened the 2025 spring season with a dominate 6-1 victory at Alabama A&M Saturday afternoon. The Gamecocks claimed the doubles point and carried that momentum into singles play where they dropped only one match.

The win marks the first win as the Jax State men's tennis coach for head coach Michael Helms.

Every match won in singles play for the Red-and-White were in straight-set matches.

The doubles team of Zach Murphy and Lucius Soller got things rolling for the Gamecocks with a 6-1 triumph over Alabama A&M's Goran Krivokapic and Arnav Pathange. Charlie Penman and Timo De Visser then clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Freddie Lawrence and Lebogang Mashego. The duo of Marko Milosavljevic and Alin Fatu were up 4-3 in their doubles match, but it went unfinished due to the Gamecocks clinching on court three.

David Krasner picked up where the doubles teams left off with the first win in singles. Krasner defeated Lawrence 6-0, 6-1 on court five. Matei Palcau followed with a win on court six over Mashego in with another impressive straight-set win. Palcau won his match 6-1, 6-1.

Fatu finished next on court four with 6-2, 6-0 win over the Bulldogs' Goran Krivokapic before Penman downed Pathange 6-0, 6-4. Milosavljevic beat Yin Chih Lan 6-3, 6-3 on court two in the final victory for Jax State. The lone loss for the Gamecocks came on court one where De Visser fell 6-4, 6-3 to Kai Cowcher.
