JACKSONVILLE – Gamecocks men's tennis claimed a 4-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky Friday. The match was Jax State's Spring 2025 home opener at the Jax State Tennis Courts. The Gamecocks clinched the doubles point before taking care of business in singles play to win the match.
Jax State improved to 2-0 on the young season with the win. Meanwhile, Eastern Kentucky fell to 3-7.
In doubles,
Zach Murphy and
Lucius Soller brought home a win over EKU's Ryan Kitchin and Adrian Contreras in a 6-3 final on court two.
Timo De Visser and
Charlie Penman's 6-3 win over Kartik Parhar and Fernando Bulnes was all the Gamecocks needed to take the doubles point.
Marko Milosavljevic and
Alin Fatu's doubles match went unfinished thanks to the point being won before they had a final.
It took only three courts for the Gamecocks to win in singles. Penman downed Christian Cantos Siemers in straight-sets with scores of 6-2 and 6-2 to give Jax State a 2-0 lead as a team. Fatu then dominated Parhar in another straight-set win for the Gamecocks with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Jax State's decisive point came thanks to
Matei Palcau winning 6-1, 6-0 over Darko Kolevski.
Milosavljevic, De Visser, and
David Krasner were in action when the match went final, so their matches went unfinished. De Visser won the first set 6-3 and was up 3-1 before his match went unfinished. Milosavljevic won set one 6-2 and was 4-2 on his court, while Krasner won the first set 6-1 and was up 5-3 in set two.
The Gamecocks, coming off back-to-back dominating wins, will take that momentum into Sunday's match at South Alabama. The match against the Jaguars is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Live results are available at JaxStateSports.com.
