JACKSONVILLE – Gamecocks women's basketball is back in the Pete Mathews Coliseum Saturday afternoon for a showdown against Louisiana Tech at 2:30 p.m. The game against the Lady Techsters will be the second Pink Out at the Pete. Fans are encouraged to wear pink.

Last Time Out
Jax State lost 56-49 against Sam Houston on Thursday at home. Mya Barnes was the lone Jax State player to score in double figures with 12 points on 5-10 shooting and two threes in the loss. Elsie Harris led the Gamecocks in assists with four. Harris's nine points was the second most on the team. Asia Barclay had a team-best seven rebounds to compliment her six points.

The Gamecocks are 0-4 all-time against the Lady Techsters, including three losses last season. The first ever matchup between the two teams came on Jan. 20, 2024, in Ruston, La., in a 67-53 LA Tech victory. The most recent game between the Gamecocks and Lady Techsters resulted in an 80-73 LA Tech win also in Ruston.

At Western Kentucky on Feb. 8, Maria Sanchez Ponce had a career day in both points and rebounds. Ponce scored 20 points for the Red-and-White and pulled down nine rebounds. The Junior forward from Spain shot 5-11 from the field, hit two threes, and was 8-10 from the free throw line. Ponce added a steal to her stat line as well.
Scouting the Lady Techsters
LA Tech lost 79-72 Thursday at Kennesaw State to fall to 0-6 on the road in league play. The Lady Techsters were led in scoring by standout freshman Paris Bradley with 19 points on an efficient 7-9 night from the field, 2-3 makes from three, and six rebounds. Bradley's fellow freshman classmate Jordan Marshall had a team-high 11 rebounds in the loss. Marshall dropped the team's third most points with 14. Robyn Lee had the second most points in the game for the Lady Techsters with 18.
Bradley paces the Lady Techsters averaging 13 points per game, Lee is second at 12.4 points per game, Marshall is third at 11.9 points per game, and Jianna Morris also averages double-digits at 11.2 points per game. Marshall averages nearly a double-double as she leads LA Tech with 8.1 rebounds per game, while Bradley has the most assists this season for the squad with 67 total for an average of 2.9 per contest.
