
Women's Basketball Ends Road Trip Saturday at UTEP

EL PASO, TEX. – Jacksonville State women's basketball ends their road trip with a visit to UTEP on Saturday. The Gamecocks are coming off a 66-47 loss at New Mexico State, while UTEP lost their last game against Kennesaw State 68-56 at home.

Jax State dropped a road game at New Mexico State by a score of 66-47 on Thursday. In the loss, Clara Gonzalez Planella shined with 16 points on 40% shooting from the field. She also added four rebounds. Samiya Steele scored 10 points, enough for second most on the team. She shot 50% from the field and hit 2-3 three pointers. Asia Barclay led the Red-and-White with eight rebounds.

The Gamecocks and Miners will be meeting for the fourth time in both programs' histories. Jax State currently holds a 2-1 record over UTEP. In their first ever meeting on Feb. 1, 2024, Jax State won inside the Pete Mathews Coliseum in a 70-62 final.
