Soller and Murphy Stay Hot In Jax State's Loss at Denver

DENVER, COLO. – Jacksonville State men's tennis fell 5-2 Sunday afternoon at Denver to conclude their three-match road stretch out west. While the Gamecocks lost, the doubles pair of Zach Murphy and Lucius Soller continued their hot start to the 2025 Spring season with another victory against the Pioneer's number one doubles team.

The setback now has the Gamecocks at 3-4 on the year, while Denver improved their record to 8-5.

Soller and Murphy defeated Connor Robb-Wilcox and Rikuto Yamaguchi 7-6 (7-2) in tiebreakers on doubles court one to claim the doubles point for the Gamecocks. With the win, Soller and Muphy improved to 6-0 as duo this season. Earlier in the weekend, Soller and Murphy won over Utah State and Air Force's number one doubles teams as well.

Marko Milosavljevic and David Krasner's doubles court concluded first. Denver's Daniel Sancho Arbizu and Theo Coats defeated Milosavljevic and Krasner 6-3 on court two. Logan Haga and Timo De Visser got the first doubles win for the Gamecocks in a 6-3 triumph over Raffaello Papajcik and Ryoma Mishiro on court three.

Krasner was the lone Gamecock to get a win in singles action against the Pioneers. He won 6-2, 6-2 over Ryoma Mishiro on court four to give the Gamecocks their only other point of the day.

Charlie Penman and Samuel Rovai's match was the first to end with Rovai winning 7-5, 6-1 over Penman. De Visser then fell 6-2, 6-4 on court one to Arbizu as Denver got in front 2-1. Krasner's win tied it before Matei Palcau lost 6-1, 6-4 to Coats to give the Pioneers a 3-2 advantage.
