JACKSONVILLE – Gamecocks men's tennis blanked UNC-Asheville Friday afternoon in a 4-0 win. After claiming the doubles point, the Gamecocks got three wins in singles to finish the match in favor of Jax State.
Jax State improves to 4-4 overall with the victory, while UNC-Asheville moves to 6-3 on the season.
Timo De Visser and
Logan Haga got the day started with a 6-1 win in doubles action over Sai Gandepalli and Trevor Gray.
Lucius Soller and
Zach Murphy then clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 triumph over Freddy Murray and Olle Sonesson Lidholt.
Marko Milosavljevic and
David Krasner were leading on court two, but it went unfinished.
In singles,
Matei Palcau got things rolling with a win over Gray with a pair of 6-2 finals in the first and second sets. De Visser then put the Gamecocks ahead 3-0 with a win in straight-sets over Murray on court one. De Visser won sets one and two by scores of 6-2.
Alin Fatu finished the match with a win over Cian Ingles on court five. Fatu won set one 6-2 before taking set two 6-3.
Charlie Penman,
David Krasner, and Milosavljevic's courts all went unfinished.
