TROY, ALA. – Jacksonville State men's tennis fell 4-1 at Troy Tuesday afternoon. Although the Gamecocks dropped the match, the duo of
Lucius Soller and
Zach Murphy stayed undefeated to help the Red-and-White secure the doubles point.
Soller and Murphy improved to 8-0 as a doubles team with their 6-3 triumph over Nicolas Simkin and Noah Martens to clinch the point for Jax State.
Timo De Visser and
Logan Haga downed Hiiro Sakamoto and Luciano Alcocer 6-3 on court three prior to Soller and Murphy winning on court one.
David Krasner and
Marko Milosavljevic were leading 5-4 over Henrique de Brito and Yeray Andres Pastor on court two, but their match went unfinished.
Troy turned the tables on Jax State in single, rattling off four-straight victories to take the win. De Visser was defeated 6-4, 6-4 on court one to start singles action. Krasner and Martens battled in a 7-6 opening set that Martens eventually took. Krasner then lost 6-4 in the second to end the match on court three.
Charlie Penman took on Sakamoto on court four. Penman dropped the first set 6-4 before Sakamoto took the second 7-5. The match came down to
Alin Fatu taking on de Brito on court five. Fatu fell 7-6 in the first set, then lost the second 6-2.
Milosavljevic and
Matei Palcau's singles matches went unfinished. Milosavljevic lost the first set against Pastor 6-2 on court two. Milosavljevic responded with a 6-4 win in the second. He was leading Pastor 4-3 before the match was unfinished.
Palcau was beaten 6-0 by Alcocer on court six in their opening set. Palcau then answered with a dominating 6-1 win in the second set. Alcocer was ahead 5-4 in the third set, but the match went unfinished.
Jax State is back in action at home Thursday against Tennessee State. The match at the Jax State Tennis Courts is set for a 1 p.m. first-serve.
