MOBILE, ALA. – Jacksonville State men's tennis won 4-2 over South Alabama in Mobile Sunday afternoon. The Gamecocks claimed their third-straight victory to get the 2025 Spring season off to a hot start.
The Gamecocks improved to 3-0 with the win, while South Alabama fell to 2-5.
Zach Murphy and
Lucius Soller got the Gamecocks off to a winning start in doubles with a 6-3 triumph over Romeo Hadzimehmedovi and Juan Accossatto on court two.
Charlie Penman and
Timo De Visser then clinched the doubles point in a match that came down to a tiebreaker against Harold van Raemdonck and Victor Frumholz. Penman and De Visser won 7-6 over the Jaguars' duo on court three.
On court one,
Alin Fatu and
Marko Milosavljevic were tied with Braden Hannig and Javier Montoya 6-6, but their match went unfinished as the Gamecocks clinched the doubles win.
Matei Palcau claimed the first win in singles for the Red-and-White over Adam Bouyacoub. Palcau took set 6-2 and then got a bagel in his 6-0 set two win. De Visser then finished up on court one, but he took the loss against Montoya. The final was 6-2, 6-4 Montoya to make it a 2-1 Gamecocks lead.
David Krasner then made it 3-1 after finished on court five with a 6-2, 6-4 final over Accossatto.
Fatu then fell on court four to van Raemdonck in straight sets. Van Raemdonck won 6-4, 6-3 to make it a 3-2 Gamecocks advantage. Penman clinched the 4-2 win in a tight match against Victor Frumholz. Penman took the first set 6-3 before falling in set two 6-4. Penman finished the match with a 6-4 victory in set three. Milosavljevic was in a match on court two against Hannig that went unfinished thanks to Penman clinching the victory.
Milosavljevic lost set one 6-3, won set two in 7-6 final due to tiebreakers, and was down 4-2 in set three before the match was unfinished.
Next up for the Gamecocks, Georgia Southern is on the agenda. The Gamecocks head to face the Eagles in Statesboro, Ga., for a match that starts at 10 a.m.
