NASHVILLE, TN. – Gamecocks women's tennis got a huge road victory over a quality Lipscomb team Saturday. Jacksonville State won the match 5-2 thanks to taking the doubles point and getting four victories in singles.
Jax State now has a 5-3 record in the 2025 season, while the Bisons also sit at 5-3 following the loss.
The Gamecocks doubles team of
Irene Artigas and
Aneka Patel got the first win of the day on court two with a 6-2 triumph over Rut Galindo and Deborah Dominguez Collado.
Lea Erenda and
Ava Thomason fell in a tight 6-4 final on court three to Mariia Dolzhenko and Kameliia Tytarenko.
Jax State won the doubles point when
Zuzana Pavelekova and
Polina Ramenskaja downed Serafima Bobrovnikova and Sofiia Paladi in a competitive 7-5 match on court one.
The Bisons went up 2-1 in singles play with wins on court one and two. Erenda fell 6-3, 6-0 in the first finalized singles match against Dolzhenko on court two. Ramenskaja then lost on court one 6-2, 6-1 to Paladi.
Anna Syrova tied the match at 2-2 with her match win over Galindo on court three by scores of 6-2, 6-2. Artigas battled with Bobrovnikova on court five in set win before pulling out the win 7-5. Artigas then took care of business in the second set in a 6-1 final to put Jax State back in front 3-2.
Aneka Patel won in a hard fought three-set match against Collado on court four. Patel took the opening set 6-3, but Collado responded with a 6-1 win sending it to a third set. Patel was able to overcome Collado with a 6-3 victory in the third and give the Gamecocks a 4-2 advantage. Pavelekova cleaned things up on court six with a two-set victory over Sofiia Zhylchuk. Both the first and second sets were tightly contested with Pavelekova coming out on top 7-5 in the first and 6-4 in the second.
Jax State will head to Bowling Green, Ky., for a 1:30 p.m. first-serve Sunday against Western Kentucky.
