DADE CITY, Fla.—Jax State was eighth at the Spring Break Shootout hosted by Western Kentucky at Lake Jovita.
The Gamecocks posted a total of 906 for the 54-hole event, posting 304 and 300 rounds on Monday, and closed out the tournament with a 302 in Tuesday's final round. Florida Gulf Coast won the event at 866.
"Sometimes this game can beat you down for a stretch, and right now we're experiencing that across the board," said coach Robbie Fields. "I'm hopeful that some time off before our next trip will be a good reset for everybody."
Redshirt sophomore Rachel Camp was the top finisher on the roster with a total of +8 to finish 12th. Camp opened the tournament with a four-over round of 75, playing her second nine holes of the day at even. She shaved a stroke off her second round of the day for a 74, and posted a one-over 72 in the final round with a bogey on her 18th hole.
"It's encouraging to see Rachel playing some better golf," said Fields. "She's definitely trending in the right direction now."
