GREENVILLE, S.C. – Men's tennis got a 5-2 road victory over Furman Friday afternoon in South Carolina. The Gamecocks dropped the doubles point, but thanks to lights out efforts in singles, the Red-and-White came out on top.
David Krasner and
Marko Milosavljevic got the day started for the Gamecocks with a 6-1 doubles win over Nicolas Dispas and Nico Snyder on court two. Furman's Theophile Joly and Matt Kandel took down
Alin Fatu and
Lucius Soller 7-5 on court three to tie doubles at 1-1.
Timo De Visser and
Logan Haga played in the No. 1 slot against Cole Burnam and Connor Laymon. The match between Haga and De Visser and the pair from Furman came down to tiebreakers with Burnam and Laymon coming out on top 7-6 (9-7) to claim the doubles point for the Paladins.
Milosavljevic continued his great performance with a straight-set win on court three against John Rado to get singles rolling. Milosavljevic won 6-2, 6-3.
David Krasner then defeated Dispas 6-4, 6-3 on court four to put Jax State ahead 2-1.
Charlie Penman got the third consecutive singles win on court two over Joly. Penman took both the first and second sets by a score of 6-4.
De Visser and Kandel completed their match on court one in a close match. De Visser took the first set 7-6 (7-5) before winning another tightly contested second set 7-5.
Aman Dahiya got the final win for the Gamecocks over Laymon on court six after dropping the first set 7-6 (7-5). Dahiya responded with a 6-3 win in the second and a 6-2 win in the decisive third set.
The only Gamecock to fall in solo play was Fatu. On court five he took on Walker Allen who defeated him 7-5 in both the first and second sets.
With the win, Jax State improves to 8-6 on the season, while Furman falls to 5-10.
The Gamecocks conclude their road trip to South Carolina with an 11 a.m. first-serve at Presbyterian Saturday.
