Men's Tennis Takes Second-Straight Win Over Xavier

JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State's men's tennis squad got a dominate 6-1 at home Saturday afternoon over the Xavier Musketeers. The Gamecocks clinched the doubles point before taking care of business in all but one singles match.
 
With their second consecutive win, the Gamecocks improve to 6-5 on the year. Xavier falls to 7-7 this season.
 
David Krasner and Marko Milosavljevic were able to take down Xavier's Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck 6-3 on doubles court two to get the clinch the doubles point. Timo De Visser and Logan Haga teamed up to defeat Christian Gonzalez and Kyle Totorica 6-1 on court three.
 
Lucius Soller and Zach Murphy faced their first defeat in doubles play this season when Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger beat them 6-1 on court one.
 
De Visser took the momentum from the doubles win with Haga into singles. De Visser took down Cahill 6-0, 6-2 on court one. Charlie Penman kept the winning ways rolling for the Gamecocks on court two with his 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Mosberger.
 
David Krasner was impressive on court four with a straight-set win over Gonzalez by a score of 6-1 in both sets. Milosavljevic topped Charlie Temming on court three starting with a 6-1 win in the first set. Milosavljevic then took a competitive second set by a score of 6-4. Matei Palcau won a close first set over Marco Pennelli in a 7-6 final. Palcau then took the second set 6-2.
 
Alin Fatu won his first set against Alex Kotarski 6-3. Kotarski then won the second set 6-3. In the match deciding third set, Kotarski edged Fatu in a 10-8 final.
 
Jax State will now move on to face North Alabama in Florence, Ala., on Monday, March 10. The rivalry match against the Lions is set for a 12 p.m. first-serve.
