JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State dropped the final game of the Conference USA series with Dallas Baptist, 12-1, on Sunday afternoon at Rudy Abbott Field at Jim Case Stadium.
A pair of big innings propelled the Patriots to complete the weekend sweep of the Gamecocks after taking the first two games of the series on Friday and Saturday. DBU scored seven runs in the third inning and added three more in the fourth inning to stretch the lead to double digits. DBU added a two-run home run in the seventh. DBU scored in just nine innings of the 25 innings, bur scored in bunches in six of those nine frames.
The DBU pitching staff kept the Jax State bats off balanced all weekend with just six runs scored on the weekend on 21 hits. The Gamecocks broke up the shutout with an RBI single from freshman
Matthew Cash in the seventh. Jax State finished with six hits in the setback with senior
Drew Collins having a two-hit day. It was his second multi-hit game of the weekend and finished the series with four hits.

Cooper Blauser added base hits, while junior
Colton Hegwood registered a hit. For the first time since February 25, senior
Carson Hornung did not reach base, halting his 27-game on-base streak.
The Gamecocks will return to action at The Jim on Tuesday against the Tigers of Auburn. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
