Men's Tennis Earns Fourth-Straight Win at Georgia State

ATLANTA, GA. – Men's tennis earned their fourth-straight victory with a gutsy 4-3 final against Georgia State on the road Wednesday afternoon. The Gamecocks dropped the doubles point, but they rattled off four wins in singles to bring the win back to Jacksonville.

Jax State improved to 10-6 with the victory, while Georgia State falls to 5-11 this season.

Although the Gamecocks lost the doubles point, Zach Murphy and Lucius Soller continued their impressive season as a duo with a 7-5 win on court three over Brian Capalnean and Baran Soyler to have them at an 11-2 mark this year.

On court one, David Krasner and Marko Milosavljevic lost 7-5 to Gabriele Datei and Aryan Jit Singh to have the doubles point come down to court two. Timo De Visser and Logan Haga played in a tight match on court two in which they fell in a tiebreaking 7-6 (9-7) final against Edward Tymes and Ethan Vander Auwera.

Krasner got tied the match at one point apiece with his singles triumph over Jit Singh on court three in a dominate 6-1, 6-0 performance. Milosavljevic followed with a court two win over Datei 6-3, 6-4 to put the Gamecocks on top 2-1. Matei Palcau got a 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Vander Auwera on court six to put Jax State within one win of clinching the afternoon win.

Soyler would not let his Panthers go out that easy however as he narrowly beat De Visser 7-5 in the first set and got a 6-2 second set win on court one to make it 3-2 Gamecocks. Tymes then defeated Charlie Penman 7-5, 6-2 on court two to tie the match as it came down to Alin Fatu against Capalnean on court five.

Fatu claimed the win for Jax State in a commanding 6-0, 6-1 final.

Jax State returns home on Friday, April 11, to take on Kennessaw State in a 1 p.m. scheduled start. The match against the Owls will be preceded by recognition of the Gamecocks' seniors.
