Jax State (34-20, 15-1 CUSA) finishes its 2025 regular seasons with the most wins since 2019.

Emma Elrod led off the game with yet another leadoff home run, giving the Gamecocks an early 1-0 advantage over the Hilltoppers.

Ashley Phillips followed suit with a second inning solo bomb of her own, doubling Jax State's lead to 2-0 through two frames.

WKU (29-19-1, 14-10-1 CUSA) evened the score with a pair of third inning extra base hits before taking the lead with a two-run fifth inning.

Makalyn Kyser answered for the Gamecocks in the top of the sixth inning, launching Jax State's third solo home run of the game and cutting the Hilltopper advantage to 4-3. All three of Jax State's runs on Sunday came courtesy of solo home runs.

The Gamecocks couldn't manage a baserunner in the seventh inning, giving WKU the series victory.

The third game of the series was slated to be played 30 minutes following the ending of game one, but was cancelled due to weather.

Elrod finished her day 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, moving into ninth in Jax State's single season double list and 14th in the single season home run list. 

Jax State and Sam Houston will open up the Conference USA tournament on Wednesday, May 7 at noon in Bowling Green, Ky.
