COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Jax State volleyball fell 3-0 to Seattle in their final outing in Air Force's Amy Svoboda Memorial Classic.
 
The Gamecocks and Redhawks were in a tight match midway through the first set with Jax State ahead 15-14 at the media break. Out of the break, Seattle went on an 11-2 scoring run to clinch the first set 25-17.
 
In the second, Jax State trailed 7-4 early but out of the timeout they gradually clawed their way back into it. Later in the set, Seattle called time as the Gamecocks trailed by only two. As the set came close to an end, Seattle used another timeout after Jax State cut their advantage to 22-21. The back-and-forth set went the way of Seattle by a score of 26-24.
 
Seattle got out to another early three-point lead in the third set to force another Gamecock timeout. Jax State claimed the lead 17-15 and forced a Seattle timeout a little over halfway through the set. Luci Wilkinson connected on an ace late to put the Gamecocks up 22-20. Out of a Seattle timeout, the Redhawks scored three-straight to regain the lead 23-22. Seattle went on to clinch the match with a 25-23.
 
Sophia Schweikert and Kayla Williams led the Gamecocks offensive attack with 12 kills. Wilkinson paced the Gamecocks with 13 digs to go along with an ace. Charlee Solomon had another good day setting with a team-best 25 assists.
 
Jax State had 39 kills, 34 assists, 38 digs, seven blocks, and four aces against Seattle.
 
The Gamecocks are back in action next weekend at the Chattanooga Classic with a matchup against Cincinnati on Sep. 5 at 2 p.m. On Sep. 6, Jax State plays Ohio at 11 a.m. and Chattanooga at 5 p.m.
