PEORIA, Ill. – Gamecock volleyball concluded their weekend at Bradley's tournament this weekend with a 3-1 win over Central Michigan.
Jax State defeated the Chippewas 25-19 in the first set, but Central Michigan claimed a 25-18 second set win to even the score at 1-1. The Gamecocks completely dominated the third set, winning 25-10. In the final set, Central Michigan and Jax State went back-and-forth until the Gamecocks came out on top 25-22 to bring home the match victory.
Amaya Tolentino led the Gamecocks' offense with 15 kills.
Kayla Williams followed closely with 13 kills.
Sophia Schweikert had the third most kills with eight. Williams also contributed heavily offensively with five service aces.
Charlee Solomon led the Red-and-White with 34 assists and 12 digs.
Luci Wilkinson had the next most in both categories with 11 digs and six assists. Tolentino had a team-best three blocks, while
Sanni Rantanen had two.
As a team, Jax State had 48 kills, 52 digs, 42 assists, 11 aces, and four blocks.
The Gamecocks are back in action next weekend in Jacksonville University's Dolphin Volleyball Classic. Jax State faces Jacksonville on Sep. 18 at 5 p.m., Florida A&M at 2:30 p.m., and West Virginia on Sep. 20 at 12 p.m.
