HATTIESBURG, Miss.—Jax State will take on Southern Miss in its fourth and final non-conference game of the 2025 season before heading into a bye week this evening.
The Gamecocks enter with a 2-2 record on the year after picking up a win over Murray State at AmFirst Stadium. Jax State rushed for 329 yards and passed for 202 for its best total output of the season. The defense held Murray State without an offensive touchdown and a total of 233 yards.
For the second time this season, the offensive line did not allow a sack and have allowed just three total this season which is 17
th best nationally. That group has also helped the Gamecocks rank eighth in rushing at 261.3 yards per game, despite having just 21 career starts among the five that started last week's game.
Southern Miss enters the game with a 2-2 record and also has a conference win under their belts. The Golden Eagles are in search of their third consecutive home game. First year head coach Charles Huff worked with Jax State coach

Quarterback Braylon Braxton was the Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year after a stellar season at Marshall and is coming off a career-high 392-yard passing game. On defense, cornerback Josh Moten is on the Chuck Bednarik Watch List after posting five interceptions last season which was third-most in FBS last year.
The teams are meeting for the fourth time with Southern Miss having won two of the previous three. Last season, Jax State won 44-7 at AmFirst Stadium for their first win of the season.
