Men’s Golf Third at Ironwood

The Jax State men's golf team posted three under-par rounds as a team to finish third at the Ironwood Invitational, hosted by East Carolina.

The host Pirates won the event by eight shots over UCF, which was a pair of shots better than Jax State. The Gamecocks posted 285 during Sunday's first round for three-under, then shot 283 in both of Monday's rounds.

Senior Ryley Heath was the runner-up on the individual leaderboard at nine-under for 54 holes. Heath was one-over on Sunday and responded in a big way on Monday with a 66 during the second round and a 68 in the third. Heath bogeyed his first hole of the second round, but posted five consecutive birdies on the back nine to shoot 30 on the back.

Heath tied for second in the field in Par 4 scoring at 3.87.

Stanley Campbell was in a tie for eighth at five-under with rounds of 68, 71, and 72. Sophomore Ben Shedd tied for 27th at even par with scores of 72, 73, and 71.

Will Drake was 41st at three over (74-73-72) and was one of 10 players with an eagle during the tournament, and Karel Marik was 58th at eight over (72,75, 77).

Up next for the Gamecocks is the Bash in the Boro at the Georgia Southern University Course October 13th.
