JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville State women's basketball team is back in action Friday against Life University. The Gamecocks are coming off a dominant 75-39 triumph against Oglethorpe Monday in the 2026-27 season opener.
Â
Emily Monson led all scorers with a career-best 22 points, shooting 9-of-16 from the field and connecting on three three-pointers. Kamryn Corporan delivered all over the court with 13 points, nine assists, seven steals and six rebounds. Camden Ward also reached double figures, finishing with 11 points. Ward added five rebounds. Rocío Jiménez chipped in six points and eight rebounds.
Â
Defense against Oglethorpe
Defensively, the Gamecocks created problems for Oglethorpe throughout the night, forcing 35 turnovers and recording 20 steals. The 20 steals in the game were the second highest all-time in a single game. In 1990-91, Jax State had 23 steals versus Delta State and Mississippi University for women. The Gamecocks also capitalized on those opportunities, scoring 36 points off turnovers while collecting 49 rebounds as a team.
Â
Filling up the Stat Sheet
In Kamryn Corporan's Jax State debut, the former junior college standout filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, nine assists, seven steals, six rebounds, and two blocks in just under 35 minutes of action. Her per-40 numbers based on the one game would have possibly been 15 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, eight steals, and two blocks. Corporan was nearly on quadruple double watch.
Â
Three in Double Digits
Against Oglethorpe in the season opener on Nov. 2, three Gamecocks scored in double figures. Middle Tennessee transfer Emily Monson had a career-night scoring 22 points 9-of-16 shooting. Kamryn Corporan scored 13, while UT Martin transfer, Camden Ward, had 11 points. Ward and Corporan's outings also marked career-best performances.
Â
