DALLAS, Texas - Jax State earned its third-straight weekly baseball honor from Conference USA on Monday afternoon, this time sweeping the awards as Grayson Ashe was named hitter of the week and Beau Bryans was named pitcher of the week.
Grayson Ashe was named hitter of the week after knocking seven hits, two extra base hits, and bringing home nine runners. Ashe posted an on-base percentage of .500 as well. In game one of Saturday's doubleheader against Valpo, Ashe went 3-3 with two runs scored and six RBI, earning half of those RBI on a three-run homer to go up 7-1, eventually taking that game 17-3.
Beau Bryans posted the first quality start of his Division I career, turning in six innings with a single earned run and 10 strikeouts, the most in his career and tied for the most by a Gamecocks pitcher this season. Batters only hit .182 against Bryans as the Madison, Mississippi native only gave up four singles in his outing.
Jax State kicks the week off at North Alabama on Tuesday afternoon, before opening conference play on the road at Sam Houston this weekend.
