Bowling Dominates CUSA Postseason Awards

DALLAS—Jax State won nine of Conference USA's bowling postseason awards, announced today by the league office.
 
Freshman Gianna Brandolino was honored as Conference USA's Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and was named First Team All-Conference and to the All-Rookie Team. The Channahon, Ill. native leads the nation in overall scoring average at 222.7 and is the No. 1 traditional format scorer in the nation at 225.32, five pins better than second place. She was named the Conference USA Championship Most Valuable Bowler.
 
Coach Shannon O'Keefe was selected as the Conference USA Coach of the Year, leading the Gamecocks to a 97-10 overall record this season with eight event wins this season, including the Conference USA Championship for the second time in three years.
 
Kaitlyn Stull was also selected to the first team and the All-Rookie Team. The freshman from Raleigh, N.C. is third nationally in traditional format scoring at 218 and is second nationally in strike percentage at 59.6%.
 
Erin Klemencic rounded out the first team honors for the Gamecocks. The sophomore from Powder Springs, Ga. is eighth nationally in overall scoring average at 211.09 and is 10th nationally in strike percentage at 53.9%.
 
Annalise OBryant was named Second Team All-Conference USA after posting a 211.48 overall scoring average which was seventh-best nationally.
 
The four all-conference selections were the most in the league this season. The Gamecocks were the only team with multiple All-Rookie selections.
 
The Gamecocks will participate in the NCAA Regional this weekend in Lansing, Mich. as the top overall seed in the tournament.
