CLEVELAND—Jax State won seven awards from the National Tenpin Coaches Association, announced at Thursday night's championship banquet.
Â
Freshman Gianna Brandolino was named the Division I National Player of the Year, the Division I Rookie of the Year, and a First-Team All-American.
Â
The freshman from Channahon, Ill. ranked first in nearly every major statistical category and was most outstanding bowler four times this season, including at the Conference USA Championship.
Â
She was joined on the All-America First Team by classmate Kaitlyn Stull, sophomore Erin Klemencic, and junior Annalise OBryant. Four Gamecocks made up the eight-person first team.
Â
Klemencic is now a two-time First-Team All-American, and was among the top five in both Baker average and first ball average.
Â
OBryant is also now a two-time First-Team All-American after posting the fourth-highest traditional average in the country this season.
Â
Stull recorded three top five finishes during her freshman season and had the third-highest overall, traditional, and Baker averages in the country.
Â
Shannon O'Keefe was selected as the Bill Straub Coach of the Year after leading the Gamecocks to a 100-win season, highlighted by an NCAA record 42-match win streak and six tournament titles in eight appearances during the regular season. The team also won the Conference USA Championship for the second time in three years as a program and is making its third-consecutive Final Four appearance this weekend.
