Creel Named to Maxwell Award Watch List

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.—Jax State quarterback Caden Creel was one of 81 FBS players named to the 90th Maxwell Award watch list by the Maxwell Football Club today.
Creel is the leading returning rusher in Conference USA and has the second-highest pass efficiency rating among returners in the league this season. The Fairhope, Ala. native passed for 1,1514 yards and nine touchdowns in his nine starts last season and added 1,076 and seven more touchdowns on the ground.
Jax State went 7-2 in his nine starts during the 2025 season.
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937 and is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell who was a former standout at Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.
Creel is one of just two Conference USA players on the list, joining Delaware quarterback Nick Minicucci.
The Gamecocks open the 2026 season on August 29th at North Dakota State on CBS Sports Network at 4:30 p.m. Central.
