2009 OVC All-Newcomer Team

2009: Appeared in all 35 matches and all but one of the Gamecocks’ 137 games as a true freshman…earned OVC All-Newcomer honors after finishing third on the team in both kills and digs…knocked down 2.35 kills per game up front, while recording 2.20 digs per game on the back row…also dished 21 assists and had 10 service aces on the year…recorded nine double-doubles on the year, thanks to 18 matches with double figures in kills and 14 with 10 or more digs…picked up a season-best 20 digs against Morehead State on Oct. 16, a match that also saw her knock down a season-high 16 kills on a .306 attack percentage…recorded 15 kills twice, in a Sept. 8 win at Auburn and a Oct. 24 win at Murray State.

Prep: Played four seasons for head coaches Jenny Mertle, Vicki Fleissner and Scott Frenhoff at Newport Central Catholic HS in Newport, Ky…was a four-time Northern Kentucky All-Conference selection after leading the Lady Breds to four district titles, while earning team MVP and all-state honors in three of those…a first-team selection by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association in both her junior and senior seasons after earning second-team accolades as a sophomore…was selected by Rich Kern to his Frosh 69 and Soph 79…was a four-time regional and district MVP and named to all-star team from several publications…holds the NCCHS record for career kills…also ran track at NCCHS, where she was a first team all-state selection after guiding her team to the state title as a senior…holds the school record for the triple jump and has the second longest shot put in school history…played club volleyball with Team Z her last two years with current JSU teammate Jen Meyer.

Personal: Born on July 31, 1991, in Taylor Mill, Ky…the daughter of Jennifer and Richard Schulte…has and older brother, Christopher, a younger brother, Jacob, and a younger sister, Caroline Broschied…was an honor student at Newport Central Catholic HS…plans to major in psychology at JSU.
