Gamecock Sports Network

The Jacksonville State Football Network continues to provide Gamecock Fans the best coverage of JSU Football throughout the southeast.

The anchor of the Gamecock Football Network is K-98 (WVOK-FM) in Oxford, Ala., and the Jacksonville State University campus station WLJS-FM 91.9. WKXX-FM 102.9 FM, will once again cover northeast Alabama from Gadsden.

In addition, the JSU Sports Network affiliates will allow Gamecock football to be heard in four southeast states and can reach a worldwide audience on the Internet at www.JSUGamecockSports.com.

The Jacksonville State broadcast team will be led by one of the most experienced crews in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The “Voice of the Gamecocks” is Mike Parris, who called his first JSU contest in 1983, enters his 30th year as the lead announcer of Jacksonville State sports. He handles all the play-by-play duties of Jacksonville State athletics radio broadcasts.

During his tenure, he has called some of the most historic and memorable games in Jacksonville Sate athletics history. He has called the four Jacksonville State national title games – football (1992), basketball (1985) and baseball (1990, 1991), plus other noteworthy contests.

Parris is the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Broadcasting at Jacksonville State University.

Former JSU linebacker Ray Hammett rejoins the football broadcast team in 2012 after working as color analyst on the Gamecocks' home television broadcasts for the past seven years. He spent 11 years as color analyst for the Gamecock Football Network from 1992-2002 and was alongside Parris for the 1992 National Championship season.

Hammett played linebacker for JSU from 1974-76 and helped Jax State post 20 wins over his three years, including back-to-back seven-win seasons in 1974 and 1975 and the 1974 Gulf South Conference Championship.

After graduating from JSU, Hammett joined the prep ranks as a long-time high school football coach, serving as Head Coach at Lineville High School, Saks High School and Jacksonville High School.

Following his coaching career, Hammett moved into school administration and served as principal before retiring from Jacksonville High School. He currently works in the Polk School District in Georgia.
