Izzio arrives in Jacksonville after spending the previous four seasons as the associate head coach and pitching coach at Tulane.
During Izzio’s tenure, Tulane has enjoyed sustained postseason success, advancing to the American Conference Championship game in each of the past three seasons and capturing back-to-back conference titles in 2023 and 2024. The Green Wave also earned NCAA Regional berths in both 2023 and 2024, underscoring the program’s competitive consistency and continued growth at the national level.
In the fall of 2022, Izzio was selected to participate in the prestigious Surefire Baseball Forum, a program that pairs NCAA Division I administrators with the nation’s top assistant coaches to prepare and promote the future leaders of college baseball.
Izzio has been instrumental in developing elite talent for both the collegiate and professional levels. He guided Dylan Carmouche to First Team All-American Athletic Conference honors in 2022, an AAC Tournament title in 2023, and a 15th-round selection by the San Francisco Giants after striking out 102 batters in 90 innings during the 2023 season. He also coached Ricky Castro, a Second Team All-AAC honoree in 2023, who ranked among the conference leaders in innings pitched and strikeouts. Notably, seven of Tulane’s eight draft selections during this period were not drafted out of high school, underscoring his ability to develop overlooked or under-recruited players for professional baseball.
Over the past four seasons, Izzio has helped develop nine Major League Baseball Draft selections, highlighted by second-round pick Michael Lombardi (Kansas City Royals). Additional draftees include Chandler Welch (6th Round, Milwaukee Brewers), Colin Tuft (8th Round, Baltimore Orioles), Tayler Montiel (12th Round, Arizona Diamondbacks), Dylan Carmouche (15th Round, San Francisco Giants), Connor Rasmussen (15th Round, Kansas City Royals), Sam Larson (16th Round, Colorado Rockies), Brady Marget (16th Round, Tampa Bay Rays), and Teo Banks (18th Round, Washington Nationals).
Izzio has also made a major impact in recruiting, helping Tulane assemble the No. 1 Group of 5 transfer portal class in the country in 2025, which ranked 16th overall nationally, further strengthening the program’s talent pipeline and depth.
Before returning to Tulane, Izzio spent two seasons as Pitching Coach at Charleston Southern University, where he guided the Buccaneers to their first Big South Championship Game appearance in more than 20 years and mentored Nick Rodriguez, only the program’s second Freshman All-American.
Izzio also served three seasons as Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Pearl River Community College, helping the Wildcats earn three consecutive NJCAA Division II regional appearances and an NJCAA World Series berth in 2019. During his tenure, PRCC won 107 games, and Perfect Game recognized each of his recruiting classes among the top 10 nationally, producing 11 Division I signees. Earlier, he spent two seasons at East Mississippi Community College, helping place numerous players at Division I programs.
Izzio began his coaching career at Spanish Fort High School in Alabama, assisting the Toros to a 39-win season and the 2014 Class 5A State Championship.
A former pitcher, Izzio played collegiately at the University of South Alabama, posting an 8–1 record with a 3.41 ERA over two seasons while helping the Jaguars capture a Sun Belt Conference championship and an NCAA Regional berth. He began his college career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, earning First Team All-MACJC honors as a sophomore.
Izzio earned his bachelor’s degree from South Alabama in 2013. He and his wife, Erika, have two sons, Ace and Knox.
