Trevor Fitts

Jacksonville State has added Trevor Fitts to its baseball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach

Fitts, a native of Helena, Alabama, comes on board at JSU after serving as the coordinator of baseball operations at Mississippi State during the 2018 season.  He was on the staff that helped the Bulldogs to the 2018 College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. MSU was one of the four finalist in the CWS.  Fitts, a former pitching standout for MSU from 2012-15, was a member of 2013 club that reached the national championship series against UCLA at the CWS in 2013.

Prior to returning to MSU in 2018, Fitts started his coaching career at Daphne High School in the spring of 2017.  He also spent three summers as a head coach within the East Coast Sox Organization.  , Fitts earned his master's in education in physical education in May 2017 from South Alabama where he served as the baseball graduate assistant.

During his time in Starkville, Fitts appeared in a total of 62 games during his four-year career and posted a 10-8 mark with six saves and a 2.62 ERA in 144 innings pitched. He served as a team captain during his senior season in 2015 and was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and appeared in 18 games for State's 2013 NCAA College World Series finalist team. Fitts graduated from MSU in May 2015 with a bachelor's in kinesiology, sports pedagogy.

Fitts was a two-time Louisville Slugger High School All-American pitcher at Pelham High School and coached by Jeff Mauldin at PHS.  He compiled a 31-6 career record with nine saves and 10 shutouts in 53 mound appearances.  Fitts piled up 394 strikeouts over 269 innings.  He tallied 112 strikeouts and a 1. 29 ERA en route to All-America, all-state and Shelby County Player of the Year honors in 2011.  Fitts was also honored as the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Pitcher of the Year and Birmingham News Player of the Year as a junior.
