2010 OUTLOOK: Returning for his fifth year on the mound and brings experience and depth to the pitching staff…has worked extremely hard to increase his role on the staff.

SUMMER BASEBALL: Played for Roberto Martinez of the East Alabama Big Train in the Great South League in 2008 and 2009.

JSU CAREER: (2009) As a junior, appeared in 13 games and earned four starts…posted a 1-0 record with a 6.00 ERA…tossed 27.0 innings, allowing 31 hits, 24 runs, 18 earned runs with 15 strikeouts and nine walks…made his first appearance of the year vs UAB on 2/24, pitching 1.0 innings of hitless relief…made his first career start vs Alabama State, allowing just two hits in 4.0 innings as the Gamecocks cruised to a 26-6 win…allowed two hits or less in eight appearances…(2008) Made nine appearances as a sophomore, all in relief…finished with a 7.27 ERA in 8.2 innings of relief and did not earn a decision…made his collegiate debut in 1.0 innings of relief vs Middle Tennessee on 2/23…worked a scoreless inning of relief at the University of Georgia on 3/19.

(2007) Did not see any action.

(2006) Sat out the 2006 season as a red-shirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Alan Watkins at Austin High School in Decatur for four years…finished senior season with a 3.70 ERA with one save and a 4-6 record and batted .290 and posted a career record of 8-11 with three saves and a 4.04 ERA and a .304 batting average…was named to the ABCA Super 100 Showcase and was a Lions Club All-Star…was named All-Area honorable mention by The Decatur Daily in 2005…helped team to the 2003 Class 6A Region 8 Championship…played on the 2002 Junior Legion State Championship team…also lettered in football, was he was a Class 6A All-Region 8 selection…passed for 2,446 yards and 16 touchdowns and rushed for 428 more yards and four touchdowns during his career...was named to the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Who’s Who Among American High School Students and was an Honor Student.

PERSONAL: Full name is Kevin Andrew Elwell…son of David and Kay Elwell…born on October 9, 1986…has one older brother, Jason, who pitched at the University of Alabama…lists the Atlanta Braves as his favorite team…majoring in Education and History.
