Biography

2009 OUTLOOK: A returning fifth year player that has enjoyed success out of the bullpen, as well as a starter…not quite sure of his role this season, but could either be a starter or a closer…either way, he will play a big part of the pitching staff and the coaches are expecting this to be his best year yet.

JSU CAREER:
(2008) Made13 appearances as a junior with nine starts…posted a 1-2 record, with a 7.42 earned run average….tossed 47.1 innings, where he had 37 strikeouts and 21 walks…made his first collegiate start on 2/24 vs Middle Tennessee, where he pitched 3.1 innings and did not earn a decision…tossed a season-long 6.1 innings vs Murray State on 3/21, where he had a career-high 11 strikeouts , but did not earn a decision in JSU’s 4-3 win over the ‘Breds…got his first win of the season at Troy on 4/15, tossing 1.1 inning of relief in JSU’s 14-6 win…had his best game of the year vs Eastern Kentucky, where he pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just two hits and no earned runs vs the Colonels.

(2007) Sat out as a red-shirt.

(2006) Made 17 appearances as a sophomore and posted a 2-2 record…finished with a 5.88 earned run average…led the team with five saves after pitching 26.0 innings of relief…earned his first save on 3/18 vs Rider after pitching 2.1 innings of scoreless relief…earned his first collegiate win with a season-high four strikeouts in JSU’s 5-4 win over Austin Peay after pitching 3.0 innings on the mound on 3/25…also earned saves against UAB (4/11), Eastern Kentucky (4/22), UT-Martin (5/13) and Murray State (5/20)…also earned a win with a 5-4 decision at Eastern Illinois (4/14) after pitching a career-long 3.1 innings with only one hit allowed…finished season with 21 strikeouts to just 12 walks.

(2005) Made 12 appearances as a true freshman and improved as the season went along…finished the season with a 4.42 earned run average…pitched 18.1 innings, allowing just nine earned runs and recorded 11 strikeouts…posted his longest outing of the season in the second game of the year, 3.1 innings vs Southeast Louisiana (2/19)…had a pair of strikeouts vs MTSU (3/13), Murray State (5/15) and vs Austin Peay (5/28) in the OVC Tournament.

HIGH SCHOOL:
Prepped four years at Hokes Bluff under Mike Estes… was named All-State First team his senior season… compiled a ERA of 1.71… was named Etowah All-County in 2003 and 2004… was named to the Gadsden Times All-Area Second team in 2003… helped lead the Eagles to 59-14 record his final two seasons, ending with the 4A State Championship those two years… also played football and was a member of the 2001 3A State Championship team.

PERSONAL: Full name is Mitch Dale Miller… son of Michael and Lisa Miller…born on November 15, 1985… has one older brother, Justin…majoring in Exercise Science at JSU.
