JSU OUTLOOK: Spring was cut short by injury…enters the fall even at the Mike Linebacker position.

JSU CAREER
2010: Appeared in all 12 games for the Gamecocks as a junior, earning the start against Murray State on Oct. 2…was fifth on the team in tackles with 53, 34 of which were solo and five behind the line of scrimmage…notched a pair of quarterback hurries and picked off one pass and registered seven tackles against Austin Peay on Oct. 23 to earn OVC Defensive Player of the Week honors…totaled six tackles against Ole Miss in his first action as a Gamecock...finished with seven tackles against Chattanooga, including a key third-down stop behind the line of scrimmage, one of two tackles for a loss against the Mocs...registered four tackles against Georgia State... earned his first career start against Murray State and finished with five stops and a quarterback hurry...turned in four solo stops and a quarterback hurry against UT Martin...made three stops in the shutout of Tennessee State...finished with three tackles against Eastern Kentucky...turned in seven tackles, including one for a loss, against SEMO...turned in two tackles against Tennessee Tech in the regular-season finale before notching four tackles in the playoff game vs. Wofford.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played at Gulf Coast Community College for Steve Campbell…was a second-team All-State selection after recording 120 tackles and five sacks in 2009…helped the Bulldogs to a 9-3 record and the South Division Championship…named team defensive captain in 2009.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played at George County High School for Al Jones…was a first-team All-State selection at middle linebacker as a senior…led the team with 193 tackles and had four interceptions…was team captain as a junior and senior…won the district championship for three straight years.

PERSONAL: Full name is Brannon Columbus Byrd…son of Cammie Byrd and Stance and Cammie Byrd…has one younger brother, Braden…born on May 4, 1989…majoring in Business Management at JSU.
