Blake McCall is in his second season as the Gamecocks’ Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and has made an immediate impact on Head Coach Rich Rodriguez’s program.

McCall was one of the first hires made by Rodriguez when he was hired in late 2021 and took the Gamecocks to a 9-2 record in 2022 that included a perfect 5-0 mark in ASUN Conference play and the conference title.

McCall has integrated the newest technologies in the weight room and on the field to help Jax State’s student-athletes prepare themselves for the year-round requirements of college football.

McCall came to the Gamecocks from LSU, where he was an assistant strength and conditioning coach that worked with the Tigers’ football, beach volleyball and swimming and diving programs.

McCall joined the LSU strength and conditioning staff prior to the 2019 season and helped the Tigers to a perfect 15-0 record, a Southeastern Conference title and the National Championship. The Tigers broke several records on both sides of the ball and outscored their opponents by almost 400 points.

McCall played offensive line for one season at Jackson State University and was a preseason all-conference pick before transferring to West Florida, where he finished his career with the Argonauts.

As a senior in 2017, McCall led the Argonauts to the NCAA Div. II National Championship Game and a No. 2 National ranking in just the second season for the upstart program.

A native of Century, Fla., McCall played at Northview High School. He received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from UWF in 2017.
