OUTLOOK: A leader for the Gamecocks, not vocal, but a leader by example…works hard and is very composed as a player…the team needs her offensively and will rely heavily on her…is a solid defensive player and has even improved since last season…coaches expect an even better senior season from her.

2008: Saw action in 55 games as a junior for the Gamecocks, earning the start in 54 of them…hit.303 with six home runs, 24 RBI, nine doubles, a triple and 25 runs scored to earn OVC All-Newcomer honors…also drew a team-best 26 walks, 16 in league play…in OVC games, hit .338 with five doubles and a home run…in the OVC Tournament, had a .364 average with two homers and a team-high seven RBI, including a walkoff three-run homer that gave JSU its mercy-rule win in the title game…had a 15-game hitting streak that tied teammate Chrissy O’Neal for the longest by any OVC player in 2008…had 10 multi-hit games, including a three-hit game against Southeast Missouri in the regular season finale on May 4.

PRIOR TO JSU: Played two seasons for head coach Jayne Clem at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Ala…as a sophomore, hit .402 with 11 home runs, 62 RBI, 19 doubles, 30 walks and just 19 strikeouts to lead the Lions to a 64-11 record and the State and Region Championships…also guided WSCC to a seventh-place finish in the nation…was named Most Valuable Player of the State Tournament…as a freshman, hit .394 with seven homers and 14 doubles in 17 fewer games than her sophomore season…played her freshman season alongside current JSU teammate Rachel Fleming.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four seasons for head coach Alicia DesRosier at Grissom High School in Huntsville, Ala…was an all-state and all-district player for the Tigers in each her junior and senior seasons…was selected to participate in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s All-Star Sports Week…played at Grissom with current JSU teammate, Whitney Elder.

PERSONAL: Born on Feb. 21, 1987, in Huntsville, Ala…the daughter of Keith Underwood and Carolyn Burnette…has one brother, Tyler, and one sister, Kayla…is majoring in elementary education at JSU.
