JAX STATE CAREER:
2023: An Honorable Mention All-CUSA performer at wide receiver in 2023 and the Gamecocks big-play threat from the receiver position … Jax State’s leading receiver and top big-play threat in the passing game … has emerged in his senior season after recovering from an injury that kept him from being 100% last season … averaging 17.74 yards per reception, ranking him third among all CUSA receivers … had his best game of the season on the biggest stage, hauling in five catches for 106 yards and a score at South Carolina … caught the game-tying TD at Sam Houston, capping Jax State’s improbable comeback … in the regular-season finale at New Mexico State, caught seven passes for 134 yards.
2022: Played in all 11 games in his first season with Jax State…caught the third most passes by a Gamecock with 14 receptions for 228 yards and a touchdown…had a season-high three catches at Nicholls on Sept. 24…scored his first touchdown on a season-long 48-yard catch-and-run from Zion Webb for the first score of the game at Austin Peay on Oct. 29…starting with APSU he finished the season with three-straight multi-catch games…also stood back deep to return four punts on the year.
PRIOR TO JAX STATE: 2017-2021: (ULM) Spent four seasons at ULM in Monroe, La., where Rich Rodriguez was his offensive coordinator in 2021…redshirted for the Warhawks in 2017 before seeing limited action in 2018 and becoming a key contributor in 2019…as a sophomore in 2019, appeared in all 12 games and caught 15 passes for 305 yards....also accounted for 105 combined return yards…caught at least one pass in 10 games, including each of the last eight games, and had 10 catches for 247 yards over the final five games of the season…in 2020, caught 22 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns before missing the 2021 season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterman in football and track at St. Pius X High School in Houston, Texas, where he earned second-team all-state and first-team all-district honors as a defensive back as a senior in 2016…he was also selected second-team all-district at wide receiver…had 13 catches for 359 yards (27.6 avg.) and four touchdowns as a senior and accounted for 433 all-purpose yards in 2016…earned all-state honors in track and field as a senior 2017…became a TAPPS regional and district winner in the 100 meters as well as the 4x100 and 4x200 relays…finished third in the state in the 100 meters and 4x200 relay as a sophomore in 2015.
PERSONAL: Born Aug. 31, 1999, in Alameda, Calif…the son of Perry and Nicole Carter…his father was a four-year letterman as a cornerback at Southern Miss (1990-93) and played four seasons each in the National Football League and Canadian Football League…he has coached at the NFL and collegiate levels since 2004… sister Bria competed as a sprinter at Houston from 2013-17 and became 2015 American Athletic Conference champion in the 60 meters and qualified for the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 4x100 relay.
