JSU CAREER:
2014: Played in 53 of the Gamecocks’ 55 games a s junior and was the starting catcher 51 times…hit .320 with eight doubles, a triple, four home runs and 18 RBI to earn First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors…committed just five errors in 353 chances in the field for a .986 fielding percentage…in OVC play, she hit .366 with two doubles, a triple and four home runs…was a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts to lead the Gamecocks in that category…had 13 multi-hit games, including three three-hit outings…had two of her three-hit games in the same day, going 3-for-5 and 3-for-4 with four RBI, a double, a triple and a home run in a doubleheader at Austin Peay on April 5…stole two bases in a game twice, at Charleston Southern on Feb. 16 and vs. Belmont on April 26.
2013: Played in 56 games while making 52 starts primarily at catcher for the Gamecocks in 2013…finished third on the team with a .297 average in 175 at bats…recorded 52 hits, four doubles, one triple and one home run…drove in 20 runs and scored 28…finished with five stolen bases as well…added 14 multi hit games…hit her one homerun against Northern Iowa on March 1…hit a triple against St. Louis on Feb. 8…tied a career high with four RBI’s against Southeast Missouri on April 6.
2012: Played in 54 of the Gamecocks’ 56 games as a true freshman, starting 51 games and serving as the team’s primary third baseman…hit. 290 with a double, homer and 17 RBI in her first season of collegiate softball…in OVC play, was a .293 hitter, third on the team…was also third of the team with seven sacrifice bunts…hit .340 with runners in scoring position and was a .400 hitter with the bases loaded…notched her first career home run on March 10 vs. Eastern Illinois and made it count, belting a grand slam…hed a season-high four hits ins a 4-for-5 day at Alabama State on May 1, one that also saw her drive in three runs, score three runs and record her only double.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for head coaches William Harris and Kevin Robinson at Taylor County High School in Butler, Ga…was a four-time all-state catcher, earning first team honors as a freshman, junior and senior and second-team honors as a sophomore…a career .479 hitter with 18 home runs, 36 doubles, 15 triples, 52 stolen bases, 97 RBI and a .529 on base percentage…threw out a career record 51 runners from behind the plate…TCHS Offensive MVP in all four seasons and a Gold Glove winner three times…a four-time first team all-region player and an all-metro pick in each of her last three seasons…was named the Region 4A Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Wendy’s High School Heisman as a senior…a four-time scholar athlete…as a senior led the Vikings to a 21-11 record and a 7-1 mark in region play to claim the region title…also won the region crown as a freshman…was a first team all-region tennis player as a senior for TCHS…was an honor student.
PERSONAL: Born on November 3, 1992, in Thomaston, Ga…the daughter of Rusty and Shea Sloan…has two brothers, Parker Sloan and Brian Layfield, and two sisters, Molly Sloan Layfield and Madison Sloan…is majoring in exercise science and wellness at JSU.
