DeShawn Montgomery enters his second year as the graduate assistant for the Jax State Women's Basketball program in the 2025-26 season.
Montgomery is a Mississippi native who graduated from Shannon High School in Shannon, Mississippi in 2020. He began his collegiate basketball career at Itawamba Community College (ICC) where he spent time as a practice player for the women’s basketball program in the 2021-22 season. Montgomery went on to receive his associate’s degree from ICC, then transferred to The University of Southern Mississippi.
During his time at Southern Miss, Montgomery was a student-manager for the Women’s Basketball team where he learned under the late, hall of fame, coach Joye Lee-McNelis for two years during the 2022-23 season. The Lady Golden Southern won a share of the regular season conference championship in 2022-23. In 2023-24, Southern Miss made it to the third round of the WNIT tournament.
