A standout runner for Lawrence County High School, Coan was the state runner-up in the 2025 AHSAA 5A Cross Country State Championship meet and helped lead her team to its fifth state title in the previous six seasons. Coan was the individual state runner-up as a seventh grader, eighth grader, freshman, junior and senior and took home the individual state championship as a sophomore for Lawrence County in 2023.
