Sean Donahue

Sean Donahue begins his second year on head coach Neil Macdonald’s staff as a graduate assistant.

Donahue will be in charge of the goalkeepers at Jax State.

In his first season with the Gamecocks, he mentored Caroline Robinson to being one of the top keepers in the Ohio Valley Conference and climbing JSU’s all-time goalkeeper lists.  Robinson ranked in the top-20 among NCAA Division I goalkeepers for minutes played during the season.  She posted a pair of shutouts in 2016 to move her in to a tie for third place on JSU’s career shutouts list with 10 in her career.

The Winston-Salem native has been in the state of Alabama as he is a 2016 graduate of the University of Alabama.  Donahue received his bachelor of science in physics and math and was a National Merit Scholar in Tuscaloosa.  He is pursuing a masters degree in sports administration at JSU.

Even though he did not compete in intercollegiate soccer at UA, he has been involved with the game throughout his life.  Donahue was a three-time member of the North Carolina Olympic Development Team (1994, 2011, 2012).  He participated in the youth soccer leagues in Greensboro, playing for the U16 Greensboro Youth Soccer Association.   Donahue moved up to the U17-U18 level with the North Carolina Soccer Fusion.  He helped the Fusion to the 2012 State Cup title match.

Donahue prepped at West Forsyth High School and was a three-year starter for the varsity club at WFHS.  He was named all-conference for three seasons and an all-region performer three times. Donahue collected all-state honorable mention honors as a junior in 2011.

He is the son of Rob and Susan Donahue and has a sister, Robin and a brother, Dillon.
