JSU CAREER:
(2016): A contributor offensively and a key component to JSU’s pitching staff as a junior…had 10 plate appearances in eight games and started at third base in three games…primarily used as a set up guy in late-game situations with 22 total appearances, but was moved to the weekend rotation in the final four weekends of the season…picked up two wins after being placed in the Saturday starting role on the weekend with wins in the final two home weekend series against Eastern Kentucky (5/6) and UT Martin (5/20)…turned in a career-high 5.1 innings against EKU to lead JSU to evening the weekend series…allowed just one hit and recorded a pair of strikeouts in his first start of his career…established a new career high in innings pitched on the final weekend of the regular season against UTM…tossed seven complete innings and scattered three UTM hits in the outing en route to JSU’s 9-5 win to clinch the series…finished the season 4-0 after collecting wins against Austin Peay (3/20) and at Eastern Illinois (3/26) out of the bullpen…collected 52.2 innings of work on the bump and accumulated 40 strike outs, which ranked second on the Gamecock pitching staff…opposing batters hit .273 against him, while OVC batters hit .254.

(2015): Played in 15 games offensively and made 23 appearances on the mound for the Gamecocks…made six starts at third base…finished with seven hits, including a home run against in-state rival Troy (3/24/15)…turned in a multiple hit game against the Trojans along with two more multiple hit games…drove in three runs against Kennesaw State (2/20/16)…posted an earned run average of 3.51in 33.1 innings pitched…tallied 38 strikeouts and 30 total hits….allowed 13 earned runs and 15 walks…opposing batters hit.234 against him…tossed a season-high 3.0 innings against Kennesaw State (2/21/15)…tallied four strikeouts on two occasions against Samford (3/25/15) and against OVC foe Morehead State (5/8/15)…dropped decisions to Auburn (2/27/15) and to Southeast Missouri (4/17/15)…member of the 2014-15 OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
 
(2014): Saw action in 35 games as a freshman…started in 18 games and recorded his first collegiate hit against Valparaiso (2/23)…had a season-high six plate appearances versus UAB (3/12)…connected on his first home run of his career against Kennesaw State (4/9)…turned in three multi-hit contests, including a 3-for-5 outing against Troy (4/23)…also drove in a pair of runs to help lead Jax State past its in-state rival…had two RBI at Alabama (5/13)…added an RBI on a base hit versus Eastern Illinois (5/23) in the OVC Tournament.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Oxford High School under head coach Wes Brooks…named all-county…batted .342 as a junior while helping the Yellow Jackets win the 6A State Championship in 2012…finished his senior year with a .432 batting average…finished his career with a .383 batting average…also lettered in football and wrestling.
 
PERSONAL: Full name is Joseph McGuire…son of Jim and Jennifer McGuire…born on August 22, 1994…has one older brother, John, and one older sister, Jessica…lists the Atlanta Braves as his favorite Major League Baseball team and Dustin Pedroia as his favorite player…plans to major in Exercise Science and Wellness at JSU.
