Ryan Schopf begins his second season as the graduate assistant coach for the Jacksonville State Volleyball program and teams up with head coach Joseph Goodson, who he has worked extensively in the camp and club circuits with over his career.
Schopf acts as the offensive coordinator for the Gamecocks and works with the JSU Setters. His other duties include practice planning, travel preparations, scouting and recruiting.
Schopf comes to Jacksonville State with five years of coaching experience at the high school and club levels. From 2007-2011, he was the head coach of the varsity squad at the Luxemburg Casco School District in Wis., where he posted a 128-29 record. During that span, he led his team to a Bay Conference Championship, two Bay Conference Tournament Championships and two regional titles.
He started his career at Luxemburg Casco in 2005 as the head coach of a Freshman Team that went 15-3 and claimed the Packerland Conference Championship. He joined the varsity as an assistant in 2006 and while there, Schopf also served as the head coach of the eighth grade team and taught the third grade.
Since 2005, Schopf has been the head coach of the age 14 team for the Spartan Youth Volleyball Association in Luxemburg. While with the Spartan Youth Volleyball Association, he coached one of the first club volleyball teams in Luxemburg.
He was a member of the Badger Region High Performance Volleyball coaching staff from 2009-11 and coached the 15-1s team for the Wisconsin Volleyball Academy from 2010-12.
He got his coaching career started in 2004, when he was an assistant at Sevastopol High School in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., for one season under his mother, Roxanne Schopf, who was the team’s head coach.
A native of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., received his bachelor’s degree in 2004 from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wis., where he majored in elementary education and minored in broad field social studies.
While at St. Norbert, Schopf was a member of the Men’s Varsity Golf Team.
He is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and USA Volleyball’s Coaching Accreditation Program.
Schopf is married to Jena Bushman who is also a native of Sturgeon Bay.
