JAX STATE CAREER:
2024: Second-Team All-Conference USA selection...Started all 14 games...Made 45 tackles with 11 for loss, four sacks, a forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries...Made three tackles with one for loss in season opener against Coastal Carolina (8/29)...Had four stops with 1.5 for loss at Louisville (9/7)...Season-high six tackles with two for loss and 1.5 sacks at Eastern Michigan (9/14)...Had four tackles, 1.5 for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble in Homecoming win over Southern Miss (9/21)...Had a TFL in each of his first four games of the year...Five stops in win at Liberty (10/30)...Made six tackles with a sack and 2.5 TFL, including one to end the game in overtime win at LA Tech (11/9)...Had four total stops in win over FIU (11/16)...Made two stops and assisted on a TFL with a fumble recovery in Conference USA Championship win over WKU (12/6)...Had four tackles with one for loss and assisted on a sack in StaffDNA Cure Bowl vs. Ohio (12/20)...Made 41 career TFLs which ranks third-most all-time...His nine career fumble recoveries is the most in program history.
2023: Honorable Mention All-CUSA Defensive End in 2023 … played in 11 games for Jax State before suffering an injury in the LA Tech game … the Gamecocks’ starter at the bandit position and a key cog in one of the nation’s top pass rushing defenses … tied for the CUSA lead in fumbles recovered with two at the end of the regular season … tallied 5.5 tackles for a loss, pacing the defense that lead CUSA and closed out the regular season ranked 13th nationally … on the defense that lead CUSA and ranked 10th nationally in sacks, is second on the team and eighth among all CUSA players with 4.0 sacks this season … six career fumble recoveries are second among all active CUSA players … named the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 30 after his efforts against FIU, when he had six tackles that included three for a loss, two sacks, one fumble recovery and a return of seven yards and one quarterback hurry.
2022: Started all 11 games for Jax State at his bandit position where he flew around to register 38 total tackles including 10 tackles in the backfield for a loss of 43 yards…finished second on the squad with five sacks and forced another five QB hurries causing havoc behind the line of scrimmage…forced two fumbles and recovered two other fumbles throughout the year…forced a first quarter fumble that the Gamecocks jumped on against Kennesaw State on Oct. 1 before coming through in the clutch in overtime to pounce on a stripped ball for a recovery on the first play of KSU’s possession to clinch a dramatic win for Jax State…guided the Gamecocks to and undefeated ASUN Conference championship in the final season in FCS.
2021: Appeared in 10 contests for the Gamecocks in the fall of 2021…a constant havoc in opposing backfields, Swain recorded 21 tackles with 10 of those being unassisted…three tackles were for a loss including a pair of sacks for minus 14 yards…his six pass breakups tied for second on the team…always around the ball, he forced two fumbles and recovered two fumble among four separate games including a 46-yard touchdown return against UT Martin…also returned a second-half interception for a 39-yard touchdown against rival North Alabama on Sept. 18 to help JSU secure a 27-24 victory…his two defensive score tied a team high and were among the top in the FCS.
FALL 2020/SPRING 2021: Made appearances in all 13 games throughout the fall and spring in his freshman season with the Gamecocks…received HERO Sports Freshman All-American as well as First Team All-OVC and OVC All-Newcomer Team honors for his achievements at defensive end for JSU…recorded 48 tackles on the season with 28 coming unassisted and tied for first on the team in tackles for loss with 11.5 for a team-high 55 yards…made three sacks for 31 yards lost while picking up 12 quarterback hurries…tied for the team lead with a pair of forced fumbles and blocked a punt against Mercer on October 10…had a career-high day against Eastern Illinois on April 3 where he had eight tackles, seven unassisted, two stops for 12 yards lost, a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup against the Panthers.
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped for head coach Keith Etheredge at Oxford High School in Oxford, Ala…a first-team all-state selection and a finalist for the AHSAA 6A Lineman of the Year by the Alabama Sports Writers Association…guided the Yellow Jackets to their first state championship since 1993…led OHS to a 14-1 record in his senior season after a 10-3 mark in his junior campaign…in 2019 was the AHSAA Class 6A Region 6 Defensive Player of the Year and was a First Team All-County selection by the Anniston Star…named to the Pigskin Roundup All-Defensive Team…recorded 144 tackles, 36 tackles for a loss, 13 sacks and 38 quarterback hurries for the Yellow Jackets…other offers included Navy, Austin Peay and Lamar.
