JACKSONVILLE – Head football coach Jack Crowe announced the signing of six junior college players and the addition of two transfers that have enrolled at Jacksonville State for the Spring semester, where the first full week of classes began on Monday.
Crowe said he is pleased with the addition of the eight new players.
“We made a commitment to bring some maturity to our football team rather than bringing as many freshman in because of the gaps that we noticed last year with the development of our players,” Crowe said on Monday. “We reached every one of our objectives, with a focus on runningbacks and wide receivers.
“With the addition of these eight players, we have really impacted almost every position of our football team,” added Crowe.
The six junior college signees includes runningback Roosevelt Ross (East Central Mississippi), receiver Jeff Cameron and linebacker Morrell Jones of Itawamba (Miss.) CC, center Reggie Wade and defensive back C.J. Foster of Northeast Mississippi CC and offensive lineman Devon Hayes, who played at Georgia Military.
Wide receiver John Houston Whiddon transferred from Florida International, while defensive lineman Jamison Wadley transfers from Southern Miss.
Jacksonville State begins spring practice on February 21, 2008.
