JACKSONVILLE – Jon Clinard went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs to lead Austin Peay to a 10-9 win over Jacksonville State in the final game of an Ohio Valley Conference series at Rudy Abbott Field on Sunday.

Daniel Tenholder (1-1) had four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings on the mound to earn his first win of the season for the Govs. Malcolm Thomas allowed just one hit, but gave up a pair of runs to suffer the loss for the Gamecocks.

The Governors (10-16, 2-4 OVC) built a 4-0 lead after scoring two in the first and one each in the second and third, before the Gamecocks (15-10, 4-2) tied the game in the home half of the third inning.

Jake Welch and Andrew Edge each walked before Todd Cunningham doubled down the left field line to score Welch. Blake Seguin followed with a two-RBI triple to center field and then came in to tie the game when Kyle Bluestein singled to right field.

Austin Peay regained the lead in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Clinard, before the Gamecocks took their first lead of the day in the fifth inning.

Andrew Edge led off the inning with a solo homer and Bluestein had a RBI double to give Jax State a 6-5 lead, but the Govs tied the game in the seventh inning on a Trey Lucas RBI infield gounder.

Austin Peay pushed across four runs in the eighth inning to build a 10-6 lead, before the Gamecocks rallied with three runs in the bottom ninth inning on a three-run home run by Daniel Adamson for the final margin.
