Gamecocks Run-Rule No. 15 Auburn on Tuesday, 15-4

Jax State takes down first SEC opponent since Ole Miss in 2023

AUBURN, Ala. — Jax State baseball unleashed 15 runs against Auburn to claim a 15-4 victory at Plainsman Park on Tuesday night.

The win represents the highest-ranked win for the Gamecocks since taking down third-ranked Ole Miss on March 14, 2023. The win is also the program's first win over an SEC team since that same game.

Ryan Geraghty earned his first win of the season with two nearly-perfect innings of work, striking out six of the eight batters he faced.

Auburn's Christian Chatteron took the loss in the game, earning losses in back-to-back outings.

Jax State (28-6) wasted no time making a statement early, as Pate ended up at second base on the first swing of the game. Cooper Blauser brought Pate home on a sac bunt, and Brady Thomas made it 3-0 with a two-run homer to right field.

The Gamecocks plated another two runs in the top of the fifth, one from a Blauser sac fly and one from an Grayson Ashe RBI-single.

Ashe blasted a two-run homer over the 30-foot wall in left field in the top of the fifth, making it 7-0 after five.

Blauser gave the Gamecocks its first 10-run lead of the game in the top of the sixth with a bases-clearing double, accounting for RBI's three, four, and five of the day for him.

Auburn (22-10) took to the board in the bottom of the sixth inning with four runs, an RBI-single, back-to-back sac flies, and an RBI-double, cutting the lead to 10-4.

Jax State added three more in the top of the seventh inning with a Trey King RBI-single and a two-base error by the Auburn second baseman, scoring King and Greg LaChance.

The two final runs of the game were scored in the top of the eighth, with Thomas scoring Blauser to build another 10-run lead, then Thomas scoring on a double play to make it 15-4.

Chase Horst collected two strikeouts in the bottom of the eighth to complete the run-rule.

In total, seven of the nine starters for Jax State had two or more hits on the day.

Blauser had his third game of the season with five RBI.

Jax State returns to action on Friday, taking on Liberty on the road to resume CUSA play.
